We'll take it from here Sam <3

This summer we lost the tenacious and fearless leader of Turning the Page on Cancer, our beautiful Sam. She combined her great love of books with her passion for advocating for others with metastatic breast cancer and created something truly amazing. This year‘s fundraiser will undoubtedly be different and tough without her. But Sam knew the funds she was raising wouldn’t be able to make a difference in time for her, yet still she fought so hard to raise awareness for those it would be able to help.

Did you know? In Canada, there are no statistics kept on how many people are presently living mBC, how many people get diagnosed with mBC every year, how many people progress from an early stage diagnosis (like Sam) to a metastatic recurrence. You count when you are counted. Diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer at 24, Sam was told if she spent just one year "fighting" - undergoing chemo and radiation - she would be fine. She did that, and for a little while she was. But by 26 the cancer had spread - to her lungs, her bones, and her brain. She lived with metastatic breast cancer for 4 years, and this summer, at the age of 30, we lost her. There is no cure.

So please help us to continue what Sam started by making a donation or by joining our Read-a-Thon team on October 17th <3
