I'm raising funds to help end leprosy in Mozambique
This month I'm aiming to cover at least 180km through running and walking to help end leprosy in Mozambique. Every penny I raise will be doubled by the UK government, meaning your donations will make twice the difference.
In recent years, people affected by leprosy in Mozambique have faced a lot: cyclones, the impact of climate change, civil unrest - all while living with a disease that can cause permanent disability and is still the subject of so much stigma and shame.
Thankfully, Mozambique is also home to a dedicated network of Leprosy Changemakers - health workers and volunteers who will stop at nothing to see an end to the disease and its effects in their communities. They're working hard to find new cases and cure people, then mobilise and equip communities to end stigma, advocate for each other and break free from poverty.
For too long, leprosy has torn lives apart in Mozambique - but not any more. When you donate to help me reach my goal, you'll be supporting these Leprosy Changemakers and ensuring that even more people will be equipped to transform their communities. They want to end leprosy transmission, disability and discrimination - and you can set all this in motion.
Before 24 April the UK government will DOUBLE your gift. Did you know that it costs £24 to get the cure for leprosy to one person? So a donation of £24, doubled, would become £48, curing two people.
I've set an initial target of 180km because that's the furthest distance that Gabriel, one of the amazing health workers in Mozambique, has to travel in a day as he covers a large 'patch' in the rural north east of the country. But if I go even further then even better! Please consider sponsoring me and play your part in a leprosy-free future for Mozambique. You can find out more here >> www.unconditionalappeal.org.uk
