It’s Time To Make Leprosy A Thing Of The Past
We are a global Christian organisation leading the fight against leprosy.
Following Jesus, we are dedicated to eradicating leprosy, one person at a time until leprosy is a thing of the past.
For over 140 years, The Leprosy Mission Scotland (TLMS) has created life-changing connections between people in Scotland and people affected by leprosy throughout the world.
Over the past 25 years, 15 million people have been cured of leprosy, but there are still 5 million people affected by the ongoing impact of leprosy.
TLMS, in partnership with our supporters and the Leprosy Mission Global Fellowship and others, is dedicated to ending leprosy and transforming lives.
Until leprosy no longer stigmatises, marginalises and impoverishes, The Leprosy Mission Scotland will work to raise resources to enable people affected by leprosy to achieve justice.
From Scotland, our focus is on helping to eradicate leprosy, and it’s consequences in 6 countries: Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria and Tanzania. These places have high rates of leprosy or lack the services or opportunities needed by people affected.
We Have A Plan To Eradicate Leprosy
With your support we will SPOT IT so that everyone who needs help can get it at the earliest possible moment.
We will TREAT IT, getting the right medication to cure leprosy to people who need it as quickly as possible. For people suffering from the long term effects of leprosy we will be there for as long as they need us to treat whatever complications or disability they are living with.
We will STOP IT from spreading, both by spotting it early and treating it fast, and by supporting research into better prevention and treatment for the future. We will STOP IT from devastating lives by tackling discrimination, promoting human rights, and supporting self-sufficiency.
We Will Finish What Jesus Started
Jesus had a special place in His heart for people affected by leprosy. He called his disciples to care for them too.
Following His example, we will bring love, care and hope to people affected by leprosy until we can make leprosy a thing of the past for everyone.
