My why:

There are days in your life when you know there is going to be a Before and an After. In my life one of those days, the biggest one, was the day I was told at 27 that I had breast cancer.

I don’t remember ever feeling so lost. I would sit in medical offices listening to them talk about my treatment plan and not hear half of what they were saying. And when I went in for treatment and saw no one who looked like me I felt totally, incredibly, devastatingly alone.

Rethink Breast Cancer changed that for me. Having a place where I felt seen, where I could read stories from other young women like me was a wonderful resource during treatment and it continues to be as I walk the path of survivorship. Seeing an organization advocate for me, raising awareness about the fact that young women do, indeed, get breast cancer, makes me want to do all I can to give back.

I've never been a runner and it's that much harder now because of side effects from my cancer treatment. I cannot bring myself to shave my head because I have experienced that trauma already. I can’t grow a moustache or climb a mountain. But I can wear pink every day in October and post pictures on social media explaining why I am making this statement. By making a donation and helping me reach my fundraising goal, you will be supporting Rethink Breast Cancer and all young women affected by breast cancer and the people who love them.
